A day in the Life

Quarantine Day 10

With all the craziness going on, and our mandatory Stay-at-Home order, Dave and I have been neglecting spending time, just the two of us.

Today, we decided to remedy this with an old fashioned at-home-date-night.

We broke out the good “china” (Our Sabbath plates), our candles, our good table cloth, and the yummy looking steaks we were saving for a special occasion and cooked them up.

We told the kids that tonight was pizza night for them and gave them permission to play video games while they ate. Eyes immediately lit up, and my son suggested we have date night every night! They happily made Matzah Pizzas and then ran to play video games upstairs while Mommy and Daddy spent some alone time together.

It wasn’t a normal date, by any means. But we got to spend a little time together, eat a delicious dinner, followed by a Netflix movie we had been meaning to watch for the past… forever.

It’s nice to sometimes be reminded that we don’t need to go out and “do” something, in order to reconnect. Love can be shared in our home, around our regular dinner table, when we take the time for each other.

I guess if nothing else, this quarantine is an exercise in reminding all of us to take stock of what we have and remember what is precious.

Consider me reminded.
