Processing our Chickens

We’ve been happily processing our chickens over the last few weeks. Little by little, we’re making our way through our meat birds.

Dave had purchased a plucker this year. It was an investment up front, but we’re so grateful for it! Because he’s a tinkerer, he also made his own scalder which was invaluable for our processing.

No more running back and forth between the kitchen and the processing area with pots of nearly boiling water from the stove top!

These two little things made the process so much faster and easier.

I think 100 birds, is suddenly looking a little more doable.

We even took the time to quarter some of it up.

Dave had to add his own flare to the labels, of course.
