Quarantine Day 5: Preparation Day
Today is Preparation Day.
It is a day of doing; of cooking, cleaning, straightening and tidying. It is a day of preparing meals, for the coming feast tonight, as well as prepping meals for the next day. It is a day of preparing your home, your life, and your heart, for Sabbath.
Which around here, means it is a day of utter chaos.
Brooms will miraculously disappear without a trace, cleaning supplies will be in short supply, the dishwasher will run 4 or 5 times and without fail, around 2pm someone will realize we forgot to start the challah.
Yet somehow, by sunset, our candles will be lit, and our home will fall into a kind of peace and harmony once again.
It would seem, even despite the quarantine, we have managed to hold on to that peace. For that I am desperately grateful.
And this preparation day, we actually had an extra set of hands helping out. Although, how helpful she was is up for a bit of debate.
